6 steps to building your first funnel and getting traffic to your page

What happens when Facebook or Instagram go down or the algorithm changes or suddenly they make you pay to reach people  - how do you get in touch with your potential customers, active leads, or current customers?

For this reason (and many others), it's important to collect email addresses from your audience (similar to when they "Like" your profile on social media) so you can contact them with updates and new information.

Setting up a funnel is a fundamental step for growing your business.

Your funnel should be specific to what will interest your audience. This can be as simple as a newsletter sign-up or something slightly more involved or targeted, like a free guide or download.

Now, let’s cover the step-by-step process of setting up your funnel and starting to get traffic to it:

Step 1 - Decide where you're starting

Your website template already has a basic funnel built-in, a newsletter opt-in! You can decide to just utilize that right now, grab a funnel from our Shared Library, or create a custom funnel for your business.

Step 2 - List out the pieces of your funnel

Once you know what funnel you are going to move forward with, you will want to list out each piece of your funnel. This will let you know what you need to put together. For example, a download funnel would need:
  • A landing page
  • A form that is on that landing page and assigns a tag
  • An autoresponder that triggers from that forms tag that includes the download

Step 3 - Make sure your funnel is connected

You now have the pieces of your funnel, but make sure they are connected by utilizing Funnel Builder in the Back Office.

Funnel Builder allows you to choose the page your funnels start with (or create the page and the rest of the funnel pieces directly in Funnel Builder) and it will either pre-populate with the steps you've already created and connect or allow you to connect those pieces.

Step 4 - View and share your funnel

Navigate to the front Page Editor and find your funnel page on the side menu "Pages". Click the Preview Site link at the bottom left corner of your funnel page.

The funnel page URL is now viewable on your browser URL field. You can use the wavoto.com URL if desired or set up your own personal domain.

Step 5 - Start Sending People to Your Funnel or Website

Share how you solve people's pain points through posts/stories on social media to start sharing your funnel/website!

  • INVITE: Invite people to learn more about your business by sending them the link to your funnel or website by text, email, phone call, social media, etc. As people submit their emails in your funnel, they will automatically be added to your Contact Manager List.
  • PRESENT: Connect to your new and old contacts through automated emails from your funnel and/or through newsletters.
  • SUPPORT: Nurture your existing customers by sending them regular email newsletters, in addition to other efforts.

Step 6 - Learn Other Ways To Get More People In Your Funnel

Find 8 different ways to get people, what we call "traffic" online, to your landing page, and eventually a full website.

And there you have it! Now let’s talk about how to guide your customers to repeat sales…

How to guide your customers to repeat sales and education

An online course, membership program, and private consults serve as a cornerstone for establishing a long-term commitment between you and your audience, fostering consistent engagement.

They can bring you new leads, build your customer base, guide your customers to repeat sales and education, and ultimately improve your brand image.

Which helps you drive value for existing and new customers, allowing you to have an engaged community that is loyal and more likely to purchase from you.

If you aren’t sure how courses or memberships could possibly benefit your business, think of something you’re teaching over and over again...wouldn’t it be great to teach it once and have a place to send people to time and time again?

This can help you with:
  • Lead generation
  • Passive income
  • Customer onboarding
  • Customer education

Once you have your course idea and outline, you’re ready to create it in Wavoto!

Steps To Create A Course In Wavoto:

Step 1- Navigate to the Back Office > Courses > Course Builder. Click on “New Course.”

Step 2 - You’ll now see 4 tabs at the top: Admin, Curriculum, Students, and SEO. You’ll start on the Admin tab which has 6 sections: Course Info, Grading, Enrollment, Compliance, Share Course, and Delete Course.

First, begin by filling in the general course information:
  • Course Title: What your course will be called
  • Course Subtitle (optional): Why someone should sign up for your course
  • Course ID: Letters, numbers, or a mix to distinguish each course. I recommend starting with someone like C100
  • Author/Instructor (optional): Who is teaching this course
  • Description (optional): Share the who, what, when, where, and why for your course.
  • Cover image: 1280 x 850 pixels. Upload an image that will sit in the background of your text. The system will automatically darken the image for you so your text will be legible.
  • If you want your lesson number hidden or not (optional): Check the box if you do.
  • Pricing: Whether you want it to be a free course, a flat fee, or a subscription.
  • Session Type: Whether you want it to be ongoing, where people can go through it at any time or schedule, or where people can only access the lessons on specific dates.

Second, select “Grading” and decide if your Course is simply for completion or needs to be graded by points with a scale or pass/fail.

Third, select “Enrollment,” where you can decide if enrollment requires approval or if you will allow a waitlist, which is only applicable if you set an enrollment cap. Additionally, you can have an email notification each time someone enrolls and add a tag to each enrollment.

Fourth, select “Compliance” where you can enforce a specific lesson order, specific date release of lessons, or require videos to be fully played before a student can move forward.

Fifth, you can decide if you will share this course in the Shared Library or Delete the course altogether.

After you make any changes, be sure to click “Save” at the bottom of the page. At any point, you can go in and make updates to your Course Admin information.

Step 3 - Click on Curriculum to start adding Units and Lessons to your course. Each course must have at least one Unit, and this is how you can organize your course into different sections or groups. Under each Unit, you can add Lessons.

Keep adding your Units, Lessons, and Content until your course is complete.

Step 4 - Before you can begin enrolling new students, you’ll need to add a few additional pages so students can log in.

Follow the steps in this Help article to set up your course login: Set-Up Course Login.

Step 5 - Before you start sharing your course, especially if you want a public Course page for people to visit and find your various Courses, navigate the Courses > Settings and click on “Courses” to update the Image, Title, Sub-title, and Description on your Courses page and “My Courses” to update the Image, Title, Sub-title, and Description on the My Courses pages, which students will see after they login.

Step 6 - Before you publish and share, you'll want to finalize the look and text on your Courses and My Courses pages where people can view all of your courses before they register for them and then where they will see all the courses they are currently registered for.

In the Back Office under Courses click on Settings. This will allow you to update the two pages' background banner image, page title, subtitle, and intro paragraph.

Step 7 - Lastly, publish your course and grab the URL for people to register for it! Send out your course URL to your email list, share it on social media, or even run ads to get people to enroll.
